The posts in the Facebook group have been so good, I've decided to give a copy of Facebook Payday to each of the posters so far ... and now it's been upped to one winner per day. Check out the great posts in the group at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=32374322872

Hi Martin - I'm sure they are out there.

I interviewed 2 people from the UK for Facebook Payday:
- Paul R. - a consultant who uses Facebook to get website/marketing projects
- Fahad M. - an MLM business owner who has seen much better return on investment in recruiting people into his business, using Facebook

As for central Europe other than the UK I must admit I haven't searched hard enough. I know someone who sells high end beach/resort real estate out of Brazil ... using Facebook. I'll probably interview them soon if there's interest.

You can easily use Facebook to find these people in Spain and elsewhere.

Peter,

Are you aware of any success cases using Facebook for business in Europe ?

I was checking http://www.facebook.com/press/info.php?statistics but in there I cannot see how many users are for example in Spain.

Also read this techcrunch note a while ago:
http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/02/07/facebook-turns-1500-users-into-spanish-translation-slaves/

I think now that it's fully translated it will catch up faster. But a while ago I was trying to find groups and I was surprised to see how small the Spanish community is compared to the american / english speaking active users.

Hi Peter,

I totally concur that Facebook PPC Marketing can be a science, which is why I have outsourced that task to an expert! Great idea on the contest - will definitely check that out!

Hey Rod - thanks so much for the post. I hear your concern and having worked in IT/support myself in my "pre-internet marketing MBA" life I can relate to what you're saying.

I think your comment raises the discussion way beyond using Facebook for marketing.

This is not about buzz for marketers. It's about changing the paradigm of how you view your business, your customers, your employees. It's about becoming more transparent - yes very scary for most businesses beyond solopreneurs who are used to mixing their personal with business life.

I'm not suggesting you and your staff go on Facebook all day long. With some small changes and maybe a pilot project you can manage yourself, and with some structured processes that are already proven to work, is it not worth trying?

<a href="http://confusedofcalcutta.com/2007/07/27/facebook-and-the-enterprise/" rel="nofollow">I'll end with a link to this post</a> - made almost a year ago but it covers much of this topic and <a href="http://confusedofcalcutta.com/2007/07/27/facebook-and-the-enterprise/#comment-322370" rel="nofollow">the ending post sums it up better than I ever could.
</a>

Biggest question is how can this truly be considered legitimate or even productive in the face of I.T. departments inevitably turning off access to facebook by staff at work. As an IT Director, I frown on any of my staff using facebook or any external social network or even MSN chat, at work on our network. Facebook is often considered personal and being caught spending time inside it during work hours on work computers can be considered suspect. Yes, I know...this might create the buzz the marketers like because of the perceived value that something is banned, but how can this be considered legitimate to CXX roles who need to give approval.
